Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Very mixed feelings here. The restaurant is cosy and comfortable with a great menu. The execution of some of the dishes however, isn’t great. The tomato based dishes lack any spice or depth of flavour. The lamb was a workout to chew. The babaganoush had none of the promised smokey flavour, and the “labneh” was more like sour cream. However, the falafel were excellent, and the hand cut chips were addictive. They know their way around a fryer. The staff were incredibly difficult to track down. Even if you get a hold of one of the runners, it’s no good.. the manager is the only one who will take your order, and she’s hard to come by. Besides all of this, the restaurant is still a 4 star to me, it’s got a certain something that other Lebanese restaurants just lack. Worth a try.. if you do, order differently than I did."
"Great night and great food of lebanese home cooked meals, reasonable priced, service is quick. This place has been open for many years. I keep coming back it brings back great memories. highly recommend."
"We loved how authentic this restaurant is! What you see is what you get and it’s such a charming family owned business. We found all of the food to be delicious and serving sizes were more than enough for two people to share. The lamb for main was insane - so damn good !"
"My friend and I ordered a variety of delicious vegetarian dishes at Wilson’s Lebanese, We had spicy butter beans, okra cooked in a amazing tomato sauce, also we had an entree Mezza plate which was flavoursome. Loved this place, redferns icon."
"Delicious food every time! Wilsons is perfect for large groups or just a casual dinner spot during the week. Highly recommend this local gem. Try the labne, lady fingers, mixed grill, fattoush salad"
""For what it is" is often used as an insulting or at least reducing phrase for good or restaurants. Not here. Wilsons has been around long enough to know who and what it is. If tasty Lebanese food at a price is your desire, they will satisfy it. The chilli chicken is a great example. It doesn't look fancy and it smells as full of garlic as your Italian nonna....I won't say that it's revelatory, but its a damn tasty dish, that lingers like Tony Abbott's raw onion "apple"...but in a better way. The chips likewise, don't look much, are limp as old codgers donga, but they are strangely addictive, especially paired with the simple but yummy beans. There's more to explore here, and when 2 can get a feed for $50, byo if need be, and be out in an hour, you dont have the best Lebanese restaurant in Sydney. But you do have a homely place for a good feed, fast and reasonably priced. Its really great "for what it is""
"This is the best meal we have had in Sydney. Authentic, tasty, simple, awesome value for money. A great setting in a nice neighbourhood. The staff were ace, helpful and just lovely. I had been gagging for a kebab and the choices in Sydney are not great, until you come here and have a shish kebab. So so tasty. Go on try this place out"
"Great family restaurant, thank you chef for the amazing freshest fattoush salad and also the delicious mixed grill plate it filled up a hungry stomach. The Smokey baba ghanouj is the best I’ve ever tasted. This place feels like home. We will be back."
